Today we celebrate the 4th anniversary of Steve Louw’s “Headlight Dreams,” an album that marked a significant return for the South African singer-songwriter. Released on 7th May 2021, the album, produced by the renowned Kevin Shirley, was recorded in Nashville with top-notch musicians, including a guest appearance by blues-rock titan Joe Bonamassa.
“Headlight Dreams” wasn’t just a comeback; it was a triumph. Met with critical acclaim upon release, it earned Louw a nomination for Best Rock Album at the South African Music Awards in 2022. Reviewers lauded the album’s mature songwriting, the stellar musicianship, and Louw’s evocative lyrics, which paint vivid pictures inspired by life experiences and travels.
